New Zealand is unspoilt, cool and the current darling backdrop of the film industry. As the adventure capital of the world, it has a lot to offer Gap Year and adventure travellers.
Pros:
New Zealand offers a working holiday visa for up to 23 months, so the range of jobs is extensive.
It offers world class ski resorts with plenty of work opportunities – bear in mind though, the NZ Winter is during the Northern Hemisphere’s Summer.
You can live quite cheaply and there’s a good selection of hostels.
The New Zealanders are friendly and there’s no language barrier.
It’s hard to beat as a location for adrenalin fuelled activities, with mountains, rivers, glaciers and fjords.
Cons:
The temperate climate is great for outdoor activities, but it’s not the best location for guaranteed sun.
New Zealand is remote, so not a great base to visit neighbouring countries.
Public transport is limited outside of the main cities.
