Living in Mallorca I am blessed that the island is surrounded by some of the best beaches in Europe, or even the world. Mallorca is home to 262 beaches that stretch for over 50km.  The island is full of many amazing beaches: from Es Trenc and Playa de Palma which are long sweeping stretches of sand; to Cala de Muro and Cala Pi which are in tucked away coves.  If you’re planning a visit, here are my top five that you won’t want to miss:

Cala Llombards:

Cala Llombards is my personal favourite. Cala means cove and Cala Llombards is located on the east coast, it’s secluded and surrounded by rocky cliffs. It has some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen.

Cala Romantica:

Cala Romantica is great for snorkelling. Set in the island’s east, the cala has golden sand, turquoise water and a cliff along one side.

Playa de Formentor:

Playa de Formentor, is a thin stretch of white sand, backed with with pine trees and a mountainous landscape that reminds me of Thailand. Set on the dramatic Cap Formentor in the north east of the island, where the Tramuntana Mountains reach the sea, Playa de Formentor has crystal clear, calm water.

Playa de Muro:

Playa de Muro is home to the Instagram famous pier (which has now been closed due to damage). It’s six kilometres long, and located in the north of the island near Alcudia. It’s quieter than Alcudia’s beach.

Es Trenc:

Es Trenc, is located on the south of the island, it’s 10km in length and home to shallow turquoise waters. Es Trenc has a Caribbean feel and is backed by sand dunes and a natural wetland.
