Digital Nomad: the pros and cons

From full time to part time, a Digital Nomad is someone who uses modern tech to work from anywhere in the world. Sounds too good to be true?  Here’s the lowdown on working with WiFi:

Pros:

Travelling and experiencing new cultures.

You can immerse yourself long term in new and exciting cities.

Choosing your weather – follow the sun all year, or the snow, or both.

You can live on a low budget in many countries which makes it easy to save up or survive on a low income.

You can dictate a flexible schedule and lifestyle.

Avoiding an office environment.

Meeting the local community and fellow travellers.

Cons:

Fast WiFi and reliable power (and sockets) can be hard to find in some of the most beautiful locations.

Unless you can work from a hotel, it can get tiring looking for suitable cafes or workspaces when you move. Plus, constant coffee can lead to insomnia.

Noise in workspaces can be an issue – wear headphones if you can.

The overlap between work and leisure can blur, making relaxation and time off difficult. This can ruin the travel experience.

Depending on your job, you will probably earn a variable income – certainly when you start off.

Frequent movement can be exhausting and effect productivity.

It can be lonely, you might miss the teamwork of an office.
