Chalet Host – the lowdown

Job:

Cleaning chalet, making breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea for an average of 12 guests daily. You will be working for a company. 

Skills:

You will need cooking/catering experience.

Plus, you will need to be extrovert and organised.

Pros:

Free accommodation – sometimes shared – and free food.

Free lift pass and ski equipment

If you’re organised, you can spend a good four hours on the slopes each day.

You often get tips

Cons:

You need to be able to cook to a good level. 

It’s hard work. You need to be up at 7 daily to cook breakfast.

There will be nightmare guests who are rude, ignore the rules and leave no tips. 

You can be on your own or sharing this job for 5 months – so it can be tough.
